Help Kira Guadalupe Fight Breast Cancer

Donation protected
My name is Ashley and I am the sister in law of Kira, and sister of her husband, Cody. My family and I would like to reach out to first ask, and thank you all for the ongoing prayers for Kira as she fights through this unexpected chapter. With a sudden cancer diagnosis comes many tears, worries, and financial hardships.

On February 2, 2022, at the age of 31, Kira was diagnosed with breast cancer. After many appointments including an MRI and PET scan, it was confirmed that Kira has stage 3 breast cancer. Kira has the BRCA2 gene which means their children, Emily and Jacob have a 50% chance of also having this gene, putting them at increased risk of developing many cancers. Having this gene also puts Kira at a high risk of recurring cancer.

Kira will be receiving six months of chemotherapy, followed by a double mastectomy, radiation treatment, and a hysterectomy because of the extremely high chance of developing ovarian cancer.

Through all of this, Kira’s biggest concerns haven’t been about her own suffering, but about her children. She has been flooded with typical mom worries of not being there for her children or worrying of them seeing her sick. Kira has already shown that she is a fighter and will settle for nothing less than overcoming this battle.

After a few years of being a stay at home mother, Kira began her dream career working as a substitute teacher at West Carthage Elementary in September 2021 as she continues working towards her Masters in Childhood Education. With the many medical appointments including chemotherapy which began March 9th, she has missed many days of work and has used up her paid time off. The financial burden is unsettling as they face this long battle ahead of them.

Many people have reached out wanting to help and so many have already harbored a spirit of kindness by supporting Kira. Family and friends have provided support during her appointments (transportation, child care, etc.), meals for her family, assembled "chemo bag" supplies, a wig, and general words of support and encouragement.

Kira, Cody, and our entire family are forever grateful for the generosity so many of you have shown. As many have the desire to continue offering support, my family and I thought this space would give you the opportunity to do so. No one knows what the future holds for Kira, Cody, and their family and we want to focus on what is important; Kira recovering, not the financial burden.

We cannot thank you enough for the kindness you continue to extend to this beautiful family.

Kira, you still have a lot of fight left in you and we are all here fighting with you. Because truly, nobody fights alone. #kirakrew
