Help Kira graduate Drama school

Donation protected
Hey there! My name is Kira & I'm based in London.

A couple of years ago I was lucky enough to be given the opportunity to attend my dream school. Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts, was an institution that lived in my periphery for years.

I met and was taught by the most extraordinary of dance teachers who told of his wonderful experience there and all the help he received. How he was able to overcome his fears & be taught by those who loved theatre as much as he did.

It didn't just have to be a dream, I could be dancing, singing & playing all the time if I wanted to. Not long after, I decided I wanted to.

Despite all the odds, I was accepted out of thousands onto a course of 36. I felt like I belonged.

Unfortunately, earlier that year I was outed to my strict muslim family by a close friend and was subsequently made homeless. I'd lost everything in one fell swoop.

On my own, desperate & running out of savings, I'd applied out of a women's shelter.

Finding the remaining funds to cover tuition felt impossible.

After a long battle of homelessness, estrangement and depression. I didn't think I would make it through.

But thanks to the 40+ donors who supported me in paying my fees, I was able to continue on my journey of restarting & reestablishing my life. A chance to start fresh now that the world felt harder to navigate. Grateful does not begin to cover the plethora of emotions I felt & still feel to have been given the opportunity to study.

Here we are two years later & I am but 10 months away from graduation & beginning a career in the arts!

It's been a tumultuous journey to say the least. I have had wonderful experiences, forged lifelong friendships & worked with amazing people that dedicate their time to teaching!

Equally I have had to reckon with the toll of losing my family, and starting over again. Making new relationships & finding out what family means to me now as I live as my life as my authentic self. It has been tiring, but having Mountview has been grounding.

Which is why, in my last stretch of study I am looking for just a bit more help to make it to the end.

This fundraiser is to assist with living costs and maintenance so that I can fully invest myself in my final year at drama school.

Doing 5 day, 40 hour weeks at university doesn't allow me to work the hours I would need to in order to pay my bills.

With this year being the most crucial, I want to be able to do my best work, so that I may receive representation & continue getting high marks that go toward my final degree level.

My final show of the year will be Merry Wives of Windsor, where I will be playing Anne Page. Running from the 10th-18th May in The Mack Theatre at Mountview.

Tickets will be available for purchase at the end of April!

Whether you are able to donate or not, I would love for anyone interested to come and see the work I have been doing for the past couple of years.

Any & every thing helps.

Thank you again,

Kira Moore

As a queer black muslim woman, access to the arts can be minimal. I feel incredibly grateful & proud to be able to represent my communities, thanks to you all.
