Hi everybody!
I have recently enrolled in Johns Hopkins' Master of Science in Nursing: Entry into Nursing Program. This program is a 20-month accelerated MSN program for students who have a bachelors degree in a different field. It begins in January 2019. I have spent the last two and a half years working towards this goal, and how it has turned out is really beyond my wildest dreams. I am so excited and grateful to be able to attend Johns Hopkins.
I graduated in 2016 from New College of Florida, where I studied International Studies and Development. In this program, I gained a set of fundamental principles: compassion, equity, justice, and a deep belief in the dignity of all people. These are the principles that have driven my desire to be a nurse. I am also inspired to be a nurse by my mother, who is a nurse, and by my grandmother, who was a nurse. As a nurse, I want to provide excellent care to underserved populations both locally and globally. Since graduating from New College, I have been working full time, taking prerequisite coursework, and volunteering at the hospital and jail.
The MSN program is very expensive, and I have received some merit-based scholarships and am taking out loans to cover the cost of attendance, but I still need some help. I am asking for money to help move to Baltimore, get settled there, and get started in the nursing program. I am going to be moving in late December.
Housing (deposit and first month's rent): $2000
Renter's Insurance: $200
Furniture: $2000
Travel: $500
Nursing Uniforms: $300
Nursing Supplies (stethoscope, blood pressure cuff, bandage scissors, etc.) : $300
Books: $400
Bus Pass: $78
Thank you so much for taking the time to read this, and I am grateful and appreciative for any support.
