Kipper was born in August 2017, and we were lucky to rescue him just a couple of months later in October. Since then, he’s brought endless love, cuddles, and comfort into our lives—but sadly, his journey hasn’t been easy.
Years of Mysterious Pain
In December 2017, Kipper started having painful flare-ups in his paws and lower lip. The vets couldn’t identify the cause and prescribed steroids to reduce the inflammation. Sadly, this became a repeating cycle. Every few months, his paws or mouth would become inflamed and sore again. Each time, he’d need more steroids and had to wear a cone, leaving him unable to groom himself and visibly distressed.
A Serious Diagnosis
In March 2024, things took a turn for the worse. Kipper’s mouth flared up so badly he couldn’t eat and was constantly being sick. His gums were extremely inflamed. After a vet visit and dental cleaning, tests revealed he has chronic feline gingivostomatitis—a very painful autoimmune condition where his body reacts to plaque on his teeth, causing severe oral inflammation.
Now He Needs Surgery to Live Comfortably
We tried steroids again, but now, a year later, his symptoms have returned and worsened. The only real solution left is a full dental extraction—removing all his teeth to stop the plaque from triggering his immune system. It’s a major surgery, especially traumatic for Kipper as he’s grown increasingly fearful of the vet. But it’s his best chance at living pain-free.
How You Can Help
The surgery will cost around £4,500. Our insurance only covers £3,000, leaving us with a £1,500 gap to cover ourselves. We’ve created this GoFundMe in hopes that friends, family, and kind-hearted strangers might be able to help.
Any amount—no matter how small—means the world to us and to Kipper. Your support will go directly toward his surgery, aftercare, and helping him live a healthy, comfortable life.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
