Hello everyone,

My dear friends Kinya and Keren are going through a difficult chapter in their life with Kinya's cancer diagnosis.

Here is Keren sharing their journey and request. Please support them if you are able, and hold them in your prayers.

"Kinya, my 44 year-old husband, was diagnosed with advanced liver cirrhosis and cancer in January 2025.

In June, we were told that the cancerous tumors have multiplied, and without treatment, he has perhaps six months left. The prognosis is bleak, and a liver transplant is currently not available because he also has portal vein tumor thrombosis (a tumor at his portal vein and thrombosis), ascites (abdominal fluid), and inguinal hernia (intestines busting out of his abdomen).

We started our first round of treatment in January/February to treat the first identified tumor but were told in March that another one has appeared in his portal vein. Kinya went for a week of radiation therapy and three rounds of chemotherapy between March to May 2025.

In June, we found that the tumors have multiplied. We have been given the options of either traditional chemotherapy or HAIC (localized chemotherapy) or do nothing. He no longer fits the criteria for a liver transplant, so we are opting to try HAIC and hope that the benefits will outweigh the risks.

The upcoming therapy will likely load additional stress on his cirrhosis and dietary changes have been known to help. However, the hospital will not be able to provide custom meals to cater to his needs. I have been staying home to care for him and will continue to do so for as long as I am needed; the recovery process is unknown to both of us right now.

As I am not working, the financial impact on our family is significant. His medical bills will come up to approximately S$1,500 per month. We are reaching out to our friends and community for your support during this difficult time. Every little bit helps. Thank you so much."
