Help Kinley finance her dream to become a health care worker

Kinley is one of those people that you know in your heart is a kind and hardworking person. She came to Vancouver a year ago on a student visa with dreams of getting an international education and hopes of providing financial support to her family in Bhutan. It hasn't been easy but as you can see, she holds a gentle smile on her face and continues to work towards fulfilling her goals and dreams. This is her story:

My name is Kinley Wangmo, a 24 year old from Bhutan. Raised by a single mother alongside three siblings. I am the eldest. Despite being uneducated, my mother, a gardener, instilled in us the value of education and independence. After completing high school in 2020, I was uncertain about my future. I took up free lance writing to support my family, helping my mother buy groceries. Encouraged by my mother's support, I decided to pursue higher education abroad, with her offering to help with a loan for tuition and travel.

I want to study the Health Care Assistant program because I am deeply passionate about helping people and making a positive impact. Building relationships and spending time with children and the elderly is incredibly fulfilling for me. This program aligns with my desire for service-oriented work, providing care and support to those in need. My commitment to volunteering and community service further drives me to pursue this field. I believe the program will equip me with the skills and knowledge to contribute effectively to public well-being.

Education for international students is expensive. The health care aide course that costs permanent residents approx $3000 at a community college increases 3-5X for international students. Kinley has been working several cleaning jobs trying to save money for school, juggling the high cost of living in Vancouver and still sending home money to her family. Work as a health care aide will provide financial stability and allow her to give back in the way that she has dreamed of doing.

I am hoping that you will be able to see what I do in Kinley and help contribute to her education fund to make her dreams a reality. She is a very special person and I believe her gentle, competent personality will positively impact all those that she cares for.
