What started out as a half day off work to go to an appointment has turned into a journey to save Kingston’s life. Our sweet boy has been diagnosed with T-cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (T-ALL), a rare and aggressive type of blood cancer characterized by the rapid growth of immature white blood cells in the bone marrow, blood, and other tissues.
This isn’t what we were planning for. It’s been an exciting year for Kingston, turning 12, playing soccer, getting ready for another flag football season, and starting middle school. But after what seemed like normal cold/flu stuff that just wouldn’t quite go away over the past month, we went back to the doctor, and much to our surprise, we were sent immediately to Children’s Hospital as his blood cell count and platelets were found to be abnormal.
The past few days have been a whirlwind of doctors and tests and a ton of information, and there is still a lot to figure out, but what we do know is this is going to be a long journey. The first of three phases of treatment has already begun and will include an extended hospital stay with intense chemotherapy.
Kingston is the sweetest boy, the kindest brother, and the best friend you could have. He is strong and brave and has been a trooper through all of this.
Our job now is to do everything in our power to help him fight this battle.
This means lots of time away from home, school, and work for this family. With treatments usually taking 2-3 years to complete, we foresee a need beyond even the medical expenses. Please consider donating to help Kingston and his family.
Donations will be used to pay medical bills, co-pays, and other non-covered expenses, travel expenses, and meals away from home, as well as helping the family keep up with the usual bills of keeping a home while focusing on their little boy.
