Help King Tut Restaurant Recover From Fire
Donation protected
On Tuesday, June 4, 2024, a fire erupted in the basement of King Tut Restaurant. Thankfully, no major injuries were reported, but the restaurant suffered significant damage. Unfortunately, our insurance had lapsed, making recovery from this setback particularly challenging. King Tut is more than just a restaurant; it's been a cornerstone of the community for the past 30 years. Chef Kal Nasr has been a culinary icon in Somerset and Hunterdon counties since 1997, starting with Nonnas and Pomodoro before bringing his Egyptian roots to life at King Tut 1 and King Tut 2, welcoming visitors from around the globe. His authentic cuisine and warm hospitality are unforgettable.
Despite the hardships brought on by COVID-19, which nearly forced the original King Tut 1 to close, and the absence of economic support from state and government entities, Chef Kal Nasr and his dedicated staff persevered, buoyed by the support of the community. They transformed the restaurant into a vibrant hub once again in the post-pandemic era King tut 2
While it feels like we've hit rock bottom, we remain hopeful and committed to rebuilding. Our mission is to restore the livelihoods of our staff and their families, and to fulfill Kal's heartfelt dream of reviving King Tut. This restaurant isn't just his passion and livelihood—it's where he's fostered genuine connections and relationships with every community he's served. Your support means the world to us as we embark on this meaningful journey forward. With faith and encouragement, we aim to start a new chapter, possibly in a new location. The outpouring of support from those who cherish this special place has been incredibly heartwarming, and we deeply appreciate any assistance offered to help us reopen and support our employees who currently cannot earn income.
