My name is Hector - I go by King online. I've never had a stable home to live in my entire life, and recently it's been even less stable. I live in an emotionally abusive household. I've recently realized I'm disabled and can't afford to wait to sit through the lengthy process only to possibly be denied. My disability is the subject of the harassment I receive from my family, despite paying rent and being a perfect tenant in the unfinished basement of their home. I'm only now realizing the scope of my disability due to over a decade of gaslighting and manipulation from my mother.
Because I am self-employed and have been off the books (hopefully not for long), it's difficult for prospective landlords and realtors to verify my income and trust that I have the money to rent. I've sent out 100+ rental applications and inquiries, and have been turned down nonstop. I just want a safe place to live for me and my partners, and I can't do that now. I can't work a "regular" job, let alone have the home stability to find one now to save up. I need to get out of here immediately. I'm on the verge of being kicked out at any moment.
If I somehow had $100k right now, I could pay for a house in full. No more needing to hunt for a place or deal with an abusive landlord/family. I'd have the stability to expand my self-employed career opportunities. I'd be able to put out more art. I'd be able to actually try and support myself and work on finding aide for my disabilities. I can stay safe with my partners and for the first time in my life, have a home I feel I belong in.
