Hello. My name is John Gavin White and I am a 44 year old, professional writer (poet/essayist) and father of two homeschooled daughters - Kindred (14) and Empathy (12).

Last June, my eldest, Kindred, found herself perpetually overwhelmed with anxiety and, in response to that, she began purposefully cutting herself. The following months, I was paying for therapy sessions out of pocket given that I did not have proper health insurance to cover it (this is in tandem with speech therapy as well, since Kindred has a history of stuttering). But with other new expenses this year (tutoring/dance/martial arts, etc.), I simply did not have the finances to continue Kindred's therapy sessions past September / October 2024 and this is where Gofundme comes in. Surprisingly, support has been constant and sincere, and frankly, it's quite humbling.

Originally, the goal was 7500, but having surpassed that in January, the goal is now $15,500, and this would ensure my daughter's therapy sessions are covered throughout the rest of the year (It's $250 total for attending therapy sessions twice weekly).
