Help kind and gentle Cotty get a goodbye
Donation protected
For people who knew Cotty (Ian Cottam), you’ll know he was a quiet and gentle soul, who had a very sad childhood and led difficult adult life, but always took the positives from life.
Sadly, Cotty (Ian Cottam) died without a penny to his name and is due to have a council funeral which will see him buried without anybody present and his ashes put into an unmarked grave amongst many strangers. Any long term friends of Cotty’s know how unkind it would be for this to happen and so I am trying to raise the funds so that he can have a basic service and his ashes can be scattered somewhere meaningful
——————-
COTTY (Ian Cottam) was born on the 10th of October 1963 and died on the 25th of September this year.
He was the youngest of eight children, and his mum passed away when he was just four years old. His dad later passed when he was only 15 and despite having seven older siblings who were settled and could have cared for him, he was left to be cared for by social services as an orphan.
Some friends at the time, the McCloughlins, could not let this happen and so let Cotty stay with them for a few years. But with such misfortune at such a young age, Cotty set on a dysfunctional path and suffered a serious mental health episode at an early age. Despite this, he was never violent and only ever kind. His friends saw this and helped where they could, but it was always a struggle for him.
For the past 20 years he has been with his long term partner Jyoty. They lived on the breadline for most of their relationship. Cotty found out he had cancer a few weeks ago, and he died at home in her arms, as she wished.
Some of Cotty’s siblings were involved in the initial arrangements, but on finding out he had no estate they were prepared for him to die as he had lived - without the support of his family.
If you knew Cotty, you would know how sad it would be to miss the chance to help someone who would never have asked his friends for help. He expected nothing...and in that he was never disappointed.
I know this is a difficult time for people to find spare cash, but even if it is just a little, it would make a huge difference to such a sad situation and allow Cotty to at least get a goodbye.
Thank you for taking the time to read this and please do donate if you can, especially if you knew Cotty.
