My name is Babette Zschiegner and I am a very close friend of Kim McCafferty.

Kim McCafferty and her family have suffered an unimaginable and devastating loss recently. Their oldest son with autism, Justin McCafferty, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, April 15th, 2026. Justin was 22 years old.

In addition to this horrific event, Kim's husband, Jeff McCafferty, is afflicted with early onset Alzheimer's and has been unable to work for the past 9 years. Kim is an incredible mother and advocate for Justin, and is also a trained SDE (Self Directed Employee) for him with the agency, Top Care Support. More than two-thirds of the family's income will now be immediately lost due to the death of Justin.
