Over the past four years, my sister Kimmy has faced a series of unimaginable medical crises, each one life-threatening, each one unexpected.
Three years ago, while pregnant, Kimmy developed gestational diabetes. After breastfeeding, it returned and became type 1 diabetes, a diagnosis that permanently changed her lifestyle and health.
The following year, tragedy struck again. Kimmy became pregnant, but it was an ectopic pregnancy. Her fallopian tube ruptured, and she nearly lost her life.
The year after that, she suffered a severe diabetic attack, the result of a misdiagnosis. Initially told she had type 2 diabetes, it wasn’t until after this terrifying event that doctors corrected the diagnosis to type 1.
And this year, against all odds, Kimmy suffered a stroke, despite having no prior heart or circulatory conditions.
It’s been hospital stay after hospital stay, piling medical bills, and endless days of fear and uncertainty. Kimmy has always been one of the healthiest, most vibrant people you could meet- the kind of person who lights up a room. Now, she’s fighting to regain her strength and find some light after so many dark seasons.
We’re asking for help to cover her medical expenses and give her a chance to focus fully on recovery without the crushing weight of financial stress. Any amount, big or small, will make a difference.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for reading Kimmy’s story and for being part of her journey back to health.
