Life Update: "You are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think."
About two weeks ago, I received news that completely changed my world (again) — I was diagnosed with stage 4 triple-positive breast cancer.
It all started when I found a lump in my right breast and decided to get it checked out. After a series of mammograms, ultrasounds, biopsies, and MRIs, it was confirmed to be cancer.
This coming Monday, I’ll be having my port placed along with a few more imaging studies and biopsy before officially starting chemotherapy.
I’ve been evaluated by the amazing team at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in Manhattan thanks to one of our closests friends, as well as my wonderful local oncology team here at Prisma Health in South Carolina. I’ll be doing most of my treatments here locally, but both teams are working closely together to make sure I’m getting the absolute best care possible.
This is definitely not something I ever expected or imagined having to face, but I’m staying positive, strong, and faithful that we can shrink this cancer and help me live a long, happy, and healthy life.
I know I have the best guardian angel watching over me — my dad — and I trust that God has a plan and a reason for everything. My faith is what’s keeping me grounded, and I know He will help me get through this.
Thank you to everyone who has already reached out with so much love, prayers, and support. It truly means the world to me.
We’ve got a tough road ahead, but I’m surrounded by the best people, and I know with faith, strength, and love, we’re going to get through this together. My mom, Andrew, my family and friends are my rock, and I know I’m about to kick this things butt!
"Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go" — Joshua 1:9
