My name is Kimberly, and I recently moved to Iowa with my family for a fresh start after losing my mom, who was my best friend and biggest supporter. When she passed away, I didn’t feel the need to stay in Ohio, so I made the difficult decision to move. At first, we stayed in a hotel for a couple of months while I tried to get things in order and find work. I was able to get a job, but unfortunately, it didn’t last long. Eventually, I found an apartment for my family, but then an emergency happened with my daughter, adding even more stress to our situation.

Now, I’m doing my best to care for my two teenage boys, my grandbabies, and our little chihuahua, all while managing my epilepsy. My disability check helps, but it’s not enough to cover everything we need. One of my biggest challenges right now is keeping our home clean and making sure the kids have clean clothes for school. I’m working towards getting a washer and dryer, which would make a huge difference for us.

I pray every day for strength and guidance, and I know I’m blessed to have made it this far. Sometimes, though, you just need a little help to get back on your feet.
