Hi, my name is Kimberly.

I never thought I’d have to ask for help like this, but I’ve reached a point where I can’t do it alone.

I lost my leg several years ago, and with it I lost some of the freedom most people take for granted. Like walking across a room without pain, taking my dogs outside, carrying groceries from the car. Over time, I’ve learned to adapt. I’ve learned to get up, to keep going, to live. But my current prosthetic has become more of an obstacle than a tool.

It’s heavy, bulky, and the socket no longer fits my limb. I have to layer on multiple prosthetic socks every day, far more than what’s considered normal, just to keep it from shifting and putting painful pressure directly on my bone. Instead of helping me move, it leaves me exhausted after even short walks. Some days, I have to choose between doing basic chores and saving the little energy I have to get through work.

I’m about to be living on my own soon. I’ll need to walk my dogs, manage daily errands, and keep up with my own care. But I can’t do that well in this ill-fitting, outdated leg. I’m not just asking for comfort; I’m asking for the chance to take care of myself and live with dignity.

A new, properly-fitted prosthetic would mean everything. It would give me the strength to stay active, the freedom to keep moving, and the confidence to face the world on my own two feet.

I’ve always tried to push forward and be strong on my own, but this is one of those times when I need a community to step in and help.

Your kindness will help me take confident steps (literally) toward living a fuller and more independent life.
