2026 started with a bang for me, and not in a good way. After dropping off my oldest at work in Salado, I was heading back home to Cove with my youngest when I noticed the smell of burning rubber and saw smoke as I entered Heights. I immediately pulled over, turned off the car, and checked under the hood. Within seconds, flames appeared. My youngest was with me and was understandably traumatized by the experience. I called 911 and waited for help, but the car was a total loss. We had only owned it for three months, and losing it so suddenly has been a huge blow to our family.
During the chaos, a young man named DJ was the only person who stopped to help us. He stayed with us the entire time and even drove us home after everything was over. I am truly grateful for his kindness and support in such a difficult moment.
Now, I am facing the challenge of replacing our vehicle and covering transportation costs so I can continue working and supporting my family. It would mean so much to us to be able to replace our vehicle so that we don't lose out on any of our weekly income from jobs. Any help or support you can offer—whether through a donation or by sharing our story—would make a world of difference to us right now.
