HELP KIM BEAT BREAST CANCER
Everyone who knows Kim understands that she is a tireless and selfless supporter, helper, confidant, teacher, and healer to every person she meets.
Now, it is our turn to help her.
After a routine breast exam in February, Kim’s doctors found a lump (less than six months old) in her left breast. Considering her extensive family history with not only breast cancer but also chronic Lyme disease, she requested to have it biopsied immediately.
Did you know that Lyme Disease can increase the likelihood of cancer?
CANCER. The biopsy showed the lump was indeed cancer and required her to undergo an expedited double mastectomy; a surgery that would delay a previously scheduled but necessary full hysterectomy.
March 31st, our loving friend/sister/daughter/in-law/love took one step toward better health, but life just became a lot more complex as she faces two monstrous diseases.
Kim underwent a double mastectomy and is navigating the many post-surgery challenges with such grace. However, the fight continues, as she is due to undergo a total hysterectomy on July 5 (originally scheduled for May 31 but pushed out due to slow healing).
Due to the complex nature of her disease and the way Lyme disease interacts with cancer, Kim will need MONTHS of supportive treatment from many disciplines to heal from these surgeries and continue her Lyme treatment.
Health insurance covers some of the cost, however, the Giffords are responsible for 20% of the cost of these EXPENSIVE surgeries AND 100% of the financial burden of her supporting follow-up treatments.
Kim is a self-employed, certified natural practitioner. Her work helps to pay for the treatments of her and her three children, which are required as a result of ongoing complications of late-stage chronic Lyme Disease. Kim will be unable to practice her passion of healing others for approximately six months as she heals. Since she is self-employed, and Jason’s salary (on paper) is out of range, she does not qualify for state assistance. Simply put, they are drowning in medical debt due to a situation that is out of their control.
Additionally, the Lyme-associated medical expenses for her three children, Cole, Gigi, and Bella will increase by $3,000 per month as Kim will not be able to treat them herself during this time. Cole, Gigi, and Bella are each on their own Lyme journeys requiring complex treatments, many of which are not covered by insurance. Raising funds to help cover the cost of the children’s care from outside providers will help Kim focus on her own healing in this critical time.
On behalf of the Gifford family, we are asking for your assistance in raising $50,000 to cover the overwhelming surgical costs, her continued Lyme treatment after cancer treatment, and her children’s treatment for chronic Lyme.
Please consider a gift in any amount, and if you are unable to give, please share their story. A small act of kindness like this can make a profound difference for the Gifford Family, but also will create a ripple of change around the world, as Kim will undoubtedly continue to be the advocate and helper that we all know her to be.
Kim and her family are destined for great things. Let’s dig deep to help them, just as they have done again and again for us over the years.
Help us lift Kim, and the Gifford family up, so that she may thrive in health and joy. Empower her to not only enjoy sacred time with family & friends, but also continue to assist others and share her immense wisdom and healing gifts with the world.
