This fundraiser is to help us (Kim and Steve Murphy) with serious flood damage at our small farm in Mount Airy, NC. We attend the Winston-Salem Farmers Market on Saturday mornings, year-round with grass-fed and pastured meats, eggs, in-season produce, jams and pickles, etc. Local customers also purchase at the farm in Mount Airy on Wednesday afternoons.
On August 2nd, Surry County, NC and surrounding areas had devasting flash flooding. We experienced historic rainfalls of 10”-13” within a 5-6 hour period overnight.
Our damages at Mill River Farm include
- driveway washed out
- 4 ft of flood water in the farmhouse root cellar resulting in
stone wall collapse
oil furnace ruined
water heater damage, working but replacement needed
water runoff abatement required
- foot bridge washed out to spring house
For a small farm operated by an older couple, the repair costs are staggering. We need your help.
If you are able, please consider donating - even small donations add up! If you can't donate, sharing this fundraiser with your family, friends, and social networks is another meaningful way to help.
Thank you for your support,
Kim & Steve
