Help Kim Sierzega's Family with Medical and Funeral Costs

Donation protected
Kim Nawrot (Mrs.) Sierzega was an extraordinary wife to Dan and mother to my best friend Caitlyn and her giant dog Rex. Some of you may have known her from her years at Hometown Elementary School when she headed up the bowling program. Or maybe you or your child know her as the sweet lunch lady from Oak Lawn-Hometown Middle School. Maybe you know her from Oak Lawn Community High School where she attended nearly every bowling game or tournament to cheer on the Spartans. Or maybe even from her working at Kolmar Elementary School through this past May until their family moved to Wisconsin.

Kim was diagnosed with Stage 2 pancreatic cancer in January 2024. After a PET scan the next month, doctor's found that the cancer had spread to her liver with a then Stage 4 diagnosis. After extensive rounds of chemotherapy and radiation, she seemed to be on an incline with her health, but on February 11th, 2025, she unfortunately took her final breath in her home with her loving husband by her side.

A story that I recently heard of her was how she chased down a bus that carried her brother's bullies over 30 years ago to ensure that any of the kids being bullied wouldn't have to worry about them anymore. This is the type of person that she was. When she knew that there was someone that needed help, without thinking she would be there to help fix the situation. Now it is our turn to show up for her and her family.

The medical bills are still coming in and there are funeral costs that came much too soon.

Caitlyn is now finishing up her 3rd year at Carthage College and needs to focus on finishing strong without having to think about how the next bill will get paid. Her husband Dan needs to focus on processing the sudden loss of his amazing wife of 32 years.

I hope that you will consider donating to this deserving family. She wasn't the "I want flowers" type of person, but always had her family in mind. So, instead of flowers, I know she would want people to help her family instead.

Thank you for taking the time to read this and thank ya'll (as she would say) in advance for your help.
