Hi, my name is Timal, and I’m writing on behalf of my very close friend, Kim Lynn.
Kim is a mother of two, currently pregnant with her third child, a small business owner, and the full-time caregiver for her elderly father. Right now, she is fighting to save the home that has been her family’s foundation for years.
In October 2024, Kim’s father was involved in a life-changing car accident that left him in need of daily, hands-on care. Since then, Kim has been his full-time caregiver. Because of the constant care he requires, her business has had little to no income — she spends nearly every day tending to her father’s medical and daily needs while raising her children and navigating pregnancy.
During this already overwhelming time, Kim’s husband left the family and has not contributed financially to household expenses, leaving her to carry every responsibility alone. Despite the emotional and financial strain, she has continued doing everything possible to provide stability for her children and care for her father.
Kim’s business is more than income — it has been a supportive space for women who have faced hardship and needed a second chance. She has spent years lifting others up. Now she needs help.
While navigating caregiving, motherhood, pregnancy, and the sudden loss of household income, Kim was taken advantage of by contractors hired to make critical repairs to her home.
One contractor was paid over $35,000 for major structural repairs but abandoned the project after only two weeks, leaving the home unfinished and unsafe. Public records later showed he was charged by the state, but the financial damage had already been done.
In October of 2024, the home was severely damaged during hurricane Milton, with repair estimates exceeding $50,000 — none covered by insurance or state assistance… Kim used money that was for the mortgage for immediate repairs to keep her home livable for herself and her children.
Still trying to protect her home, Kim hired a roofing company to fix urgent issues. The work failed within weeks, causing further interior damage. Despite warranty promises, the company has refused to take responsibility.
These repeated setbacks created a financial crisis. Between caring for her father full-time, raising two children, preparing for a new baby, the loss of her husband and absorbing massive repair losses, Kim fell behind on her mortgage.
She is now facing foreclosure, with a forclosure hearing on February 10th. Without immediate support, she risks losing the home where she has cared for her father and raised her children.
We are asking for help to raise funds to stop the foreclosure process, cover overdue mortgage payments, stabilize essential living expenses, and address a portion of the repair debt caused by contractor fraud and storm damage. This support would allow Kim and her family to remain in their home and begin rebuilding.
Every donation makes a meaningful difference. If you are unable to give, sharing this page could help us reach someone who can. Time is critical.
Thank you for taking the time to read Kim’s story and for any support you are able to give during this urgent time.
With gratitude,
Timal
