HELP KIM, REID & BART THROUGH THIS MEDICAL CRISIS

Hello my name is Marilyn Farmer, a friend of the Garbutt Family. Our team is raising money to defray medical costs for Kimberly Garbutt extended medical care and hospitalization. The Garbutt family has been preparing for a kidney transplant for Kim for the last year which she desperately needs as she is currently on dialysis 4-5 days a week. She has a wonderful matched donor waiting in the wings however, a heart irregularity was discovered several months ago which has placed her transplant on hold until that has been resolved.  

Kim and her mother Lynn traveled to the Mayo Hospital in Rochester Minnesota January 2, 2024 where very specialized doctors performed a heart operation to stabilize her irregular heart beat, which was estimated to require about a 10 day stay at the Mayo Hospital.  During her recuperation from the heart procedure, the doctors discovered a blood infection that had seated itself in the spine and heart. Kim’s stay in the hospital has now been extended to at least 6 weeks as the doctors try to medically manage the infection. She will be undergoing intensive antibiotic treatments and 24/7 monitoring.  Lynn is staying at a nearby hotel to support Kim until she is discharged back home to Phoenix to be with her 14 year old son and husband.

We are starting this GoFundMe site to raise money to help defray the costs of this medical emergency for Kim and her family, Bart and Reid.
