My name is Kim, and I’m reaching out because my life has turned upside down in the past few months. I was living with my daughter when her boyfriend, after being released from PDC, became violent and injured her. After this, his mother—who had been paying the bills—asked us to say it was a misunderstanding, and when we couldn’t, she started the eviction process. Suddenly, my daughter and I were facing homelessness, and my dog Pork Chop, who had always had a fenced yard, was at risk of losing his home too.

In the middle of this crisis, a friend of my late mother’s reached out and offered us a place to stay. I am so grateful for her kindness, but things are still very hard. We lost our car and internet, which made it impossible for me to find work or get around. Now, I have no income, my computer is broken so I can’t work from home, and I’m struggling to afford even the basics—dog food, deodorant, and other essentials. I don’t have insurance, and for the first time in a long time, I feel like I have nothing left except Pork Chop and a roof over my head.

Pork Chop is my sidekick and means everything to me. He’s always been there for my mental health, and even my roommate—who’s a cat lady—says he’s the best dog ever. But he’s depressed too, without a yard to run in or other dogs to play with. He needs to see the vet for his rabies shot, heartworm test, and flea/tick medicine, but I can’t afford it right now. I’m doing my best, but it’s hard, and I’m reaching out for help because I truly want to get back on my feet. I’m an honest person, have never been in trouble with the law, and I want to work again, especially from home if I can. Any support would mean the world to us and help us through this difficult time.
