Support Kim’s Recovery and Legal Battle
Kim has always been the friend myself and everyone turns to for motivation, support, and guidance.
Her sense of humor and caring nature have made her a light in the lives of so many,
from childhood friends to colleagues and clients. Kim’s integrity, honesty, and generosity
are qualities that everyone around her admires. She’s the person who shows up at a
moment’s notice, ready to help others, no matter the circumstances.
In November 2024, Kim’s life changed dramatically when she was hospitalized with a
very serious UTI (urinary tract infection) and senior adults can get confused, disoriented
and these symptoms can mimic signs of dementia. During frequent hospital visits she
was simultaneously diagnosed with dementia and cirrhosis of the liver. As one can
imagine, this can be particularly challenging because liver disease, specifically cirrhosis,
can cause hepatic encephalopathy (HE), a condition that can mimic dementia
symptoms. the presence of both conditions can significantly impact a person's health,
quality of life, and treatment options.
These two diagnosis’s have since caused medical professionals to question the
diagnosis of both and on several occasions, she has been told by a liver specialists that
her liver shows no signs of cirrhosis. The Neuro/Psych specialists have concurred there
is no sign of dementia. Kim is cognitive, coherent and still filled with her wicked sense
of humor. Dementia does not disappear, it gets progressively worse. Her symptoms
have gone away (thankfully) and leave the professionals to believe the UTI itself,
caused havoc on her body. Since then, she has faced a long and difficult recovery, now
residing in a skilled nursing facility and working hard to regain her mobility after muscle
atrophy. During this time, Kim lost her business and was evicted from her apartment.
The management company is now pursuing legal action for unpaid rent, adding to the
mounting stress and uncertainty. With little to no income, Kim is struggling to cover
potential housing expenses, legal fees, medical expenses not covered by insurance,
and the many surprise costs that come with such a challenging situation.
Kim continues to pursue the issues that have deterred her from the life she loves. Her
primary focus is to walk again and put this drama behind her and yearn for that perfect
bill of health!
Kim’s friends and community have rallied around her, offering emotional support and
encouragement. Her network spans decades and includes people from every stage of
her life. Now, we’re asking for financial support to help Kim navigate these hardships
and prepare for the unexpected. Every contribution will help Kim focus on her recovery
and, one day, return to the work she loves. Your support means the world to her and to
all of us who care about her.
If you would like to speak to Kim directly, please give her a call and if you don't have her number please give me a call.
Hugs and Peace to all,
Julie
