Help Kim Osterhoudt Recover and Thrive Again
Donation protected
Hello, my name is Matthew Osterhoudt. I am the oldest of 13 grandchildren of my grandmother, Kim Osterhoudt. We're currently setting up this GoFundMe to help cover costs for her recovery and treatment. Now, with the first great-grandchild on the way from my wife and I, we would love to see our grandmother be a big part of her life.
More regarding her story:
Kim Osterhoudt has been the owner and operator of Pine Beach Resort in Side Lake, Minnesota, for almost 30 years. She has spent countless hours volunteering in the community for events and fundraisers for others in need. She has offered up her cabins at the resort for those who needed shelter after a house fire or a natural disaster. Kim has a special place in her heart for veterans in need and has helped numerous servicemen and women over the years. She became an active citizen in our community immediately upon moving her family here. From serving as a volunteer EMT (17 years before retiring) for the Town of French, to serving on many committees and boards throughout the years, the most recent being a contributing member of the Columbarium Committee, Kim has, without hesitation, given of herself and her time.
On December 26th, 2021, Kim's vehicle was hit by a drunk driver on Highway 53. Since then, she has suffered debilitating issues as a result of her traumatic brain injury. She experiences severe headaches, balance, and sensitivity issues. She also suffers from vision problems, which make reading and computer work exhausting and nearly impossible.
With a lot of hard work and many, many doctor's appointments, treatments, and exercises, she has come a long way in recovering from these injuries in the last year. So many people from the community have stepped up to volunteer their time and talents to help her continue to run the resort and make it to doctor's appointments when she has been unable to get there herself.
Recently, Kim has learned of a clinic in Minnetonka called the Functional Neurology Center (https://thefnc.com/). In January 2025, Kim had a new evaluation, and the doctors are optimistic that with some very specialized treatments, they can help with her symptoms and improve her condition. Needless to say, Kim was thrilled and full of hope when she heard this news! However, these treatments are not covered by insurance, and Kim does not currently have the funds to pay for these cutting-edge treatments. We are asking for help covering her medical costs so Kim can get the treatment she needs and get back to running her business, living life, participating in her grandchildren's lives, and helping others as she did before the accident. Please also help Kim by sharing this message.
