Support for Kimberly Baltos – Recovery & Medical Expenses

Hi, my name is John Baltos, and I’m Kimberly’s husband. I’ve started this fundraiser because so many of you have asked Kim directly if there’s a way to help — and we’re truly humbled by the outpouring of love and concern for Kim. Kim is not one for the receiving of help; she is a pure giver, so she has been more than humbled by all that everyone has already done for her. I believe it's her turn to feel the love and I know she is deserving of it.

Kim has been blessed with good insurance, but after enduring two major medical events in less than a year, she has used up all of her sick and vacation time — and we are now facing a growing number of uncovered costs. On top of that, we’re making sure Kim’s portion of her health insurance premiums (normally deducted from her paycheck) continue to be paid out-of-pocket, so she doesn't risk a lapse in coverage. That’s been one of our biggest priorities.

She had just fully returned to work after recovering from her initial battle with kidney cancer when the second, more urgent medical crisis occurred.

On Memorial Day 2025, while working, Kim suddenly suffered a hemorrhagic stroke. What we didn’t know until that day was that her kidney cancer had spread to her brain, forming a 4.5 cm tumor that began to bleed.

Thanks to her incredible coworkers, who quickly got her home and contacted me, I was able to get her to the emergency room. Just 5½ hours after her first symptoms, Kim was in the ICU, and the entire brain mass was successfully removed the very next day.

Now, she faces five sessions of pinpoint radiation to clear any remaining cancer cells. Miraculously, Kim has regained full motor function, and her recovery continues through cognitive rehab. Her spirit remains strong, and her progress has been amazing — if you saw her today, you’d never believe what she’s just overcome.

Even more inspiring, Kim is determined to return to work by mid-August, even if only part-time. Her deep love for her residents and coworkers is what fuels her every day, and that drive has been central to her healing.

We’re beyond grateful for everyone who has reached out, prayed, and offered support during this journey.

Her work family at Woodbury Wellness has organized a local benefit dinner, but we understand not everyone can attend in person. That’s why we created this GoFundMe — to give family, friends, coworkers past and present, and everyone who knows and loves Kim a chance to help from wherever you are.

Below is the message from her coworkers, which we’re honored to share here:

Let Us Introduce: Kim Baltos, CNA/MT
Many of you know and love Kim Baltos — she joined the Woodbury Wellness team back on December 4, 2018, and has faithfully cared for residents across all areas of our facility.

In the fall of 2024, Kim was diagnosed with kidney cancer. Even after losing a kidney, she returned to work just a few months later in January — a true testament to her strength and dedication! More recently, Kim underwent surgery to remove a cancerous brain tumor. Praise God, she is recovering well!

Now it’s our turn to support Kim as she faces medical bills and pay loss.

Thank you for reading, donating, sharing — and most of all, for lifting Kim up during this time. Every contribution helps more than you know.
