My Goddaughter Kim was diagnosed on 1/4/21 with Chronic Myeloid Leukemia and immediately started treatment at 38 years old. She took a few weeks off from work, worked from home for a while, and her journey to remission this summer came to an end when she found out she developed a secondary, rare mutation known as Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (secondary to CML). She started an intensive chemotherapy treatment on 6/4 to get into remission quickly and was scheduled to have a stem cell transplant which is her cure in August. We recently got some news that her brothers will not be a match and she is in the process of reviewing potential donors to continue the stem cell transplant track. Which means more chemo, and a longer wait time to get her cure and now she will have to take official time off of work that will impact her ability to remain whole financially through this fight. I can’t imagine having the stress over needing to provide for my family, paying bills and going through the fight of her life. Kim and Mark have 3 beautiful girls, Sofia, age 10 who loves softball, Olivia, age 5 starting Kindergarten this year and Addison who just turned 4 this April. Kim currently has no end in sight at this point as to “when” her treatment will be finished, but she ready for the long road ahead and is a Goddamn Warrior. Please pass this along, and please check out how to become a donor.
Please, please pray for Kim and my family’s strength through this time.
