For those who may not know me, hi! I’m Kim I’m a mom to an amazing 16-year-old and two furry pups who keep life interesting.

Most of you know I’ve struggled with my weight my entire life. Just over four years ago, I made the life-changing decision to have gastric sleeve surgery. It was the best decision I’ve ever made, and my only regret is not doing it sooner. Since then, I’ve lost over 150 pounds through hard work, dedication, and a complete lifestyle change.

On Wednesday, December 31st, I had a consultation with a surgeon at Plastic & Hand in Westbrook. I was given three surgical options. Unfortunately, if my insurance approves anything at all, it will only cover the bare minimum — a panniculectomy. While that procedure would help, it does not fully address the excess skin on my upper abdomen, which insurance considers “cosmetic.”

The surgery that would truly benefit my health, comfort, and long-term results is a Fleur-de-Lis tummy tuck. After losing this much weight, the extra skin is not just a cosmetic issue — it causes real medical problems, discomfort, and limitations in daily life. If you know, you know.

I’ve spent the last four years eating better, exercising, and doing everything in my power to improve my health. Unfortunately, no amount of working out or clean eating can fix excess skin. My biggest concern is having only part of the issue addressed, only to need additional surgery later because insurance refused to cover what is truly needed the first time.

That’s why I’m asking for help.

This fundraiser will go directly toward covering the portion of surgery that insurance will not pay for, allowing me to have the procedure that will truly improve my quality of life and help me fully move forward after this long journey.
