Help Kim Basile Wood Save Her Family Home!

Hi, my name is Kim Harris and I'm fundraising for Kim Basile Wood, a longtime resident of Charlottesville, VA. Kim has been battling a number of diseases and disorders since 2018. In 2018, she almost died from eColi that turned into septic shock, and was at the UVA hospital for 21 days. Since that time, Kim has struggled medically, and is currently on disability due to chronic disorders that stemmed from that initial illness. She has multiple organs affected; suffers from neuropathy, liver, kidney, and colon diseases; and experiences brain fog both from these disorders and the medications she is required to take. Kim is still in physical and occupational therapy to this day, and walks with a cane.

Obviously, with all of this going on, Kim is unable to work. She survives on disability payments, and has had a great deal of support from both the Peabody and Fry's Spring Beach Club communities. However, she is in danger of losing her family home at this time.

Kim has worked extensively with the county on getting tax relief over the years. However, in 2018-2019, she was unable to get relief for taxes owed, and has been accruing penalty and lawyers' fees ever since (as well as HOA fees for the community she lives in). At this time, she owes over $20,000.

If we can't raise enough money by the end of July, Kim's home will go into foreclosure and will be auctioned by Albemarle County in August 2022. Please help Kim out! She has been such a vital part of our community - a teacher, a volunteer - on the Lane League Board and Fry's Spring Beach Club board, basketball team mom, CHS PTO, etc.
