My name is Kim Babjak, and I was diagnosed with Stage IV uterine cancer in November 2023. I am a wife, mother of four sons, and a traveler in the medical field. My husband, Bill, and I have been together for almost 40 years. GOD knows I need more time with the love of my life! We have not done all the things we have been planning and dreaming about. I also have a new precious grandson, Elliott. I need to survive long enough to see him walk, play and thrive.
At the time of my diagnosis, I was working as a respiratory therapist, traveling across the country for contracts, but had to leave my job.
I was hospitalized during Thanksgiving 2023 and underwent a radical hysterectomy in July 2024, which revealed cervical and fallopian tube cancers as well. I was terrified, as we had already been through cancer with my sister-in-law, Betty Babjak (wife of Jim Babjak of The Smithereens), who passed away from pancreatic cancer in 2016. I never thought something like this could happen to me.
Over many months, I went through numerous treatments, and seven rounds of Chemotherapy. The combined of that and the complications from diabetes, left me unable to walk, eventually requiring a walker and then a wheelchair.
Currently, I am undergoing more treatments and have been told that my Stage IV cancer has a high risk of recurrence and metastasis throughout my body, which brings great emotional fear about my future. We have been advised to seek fundraising help to navigate this challenging time. I’ve vowed to myself that, if my fate is to leave this earth and my family prematurely, my sweet husband and family will not be burdened by financial struggles.
I want to thank everyone for their continued support. My heart is full of love, and I will never stop fighting. I believe I can beat this, and I will never give up hope!
I will use all funds for medical treatments needed.
Love to all-
Bill & Kim Babjak
