In Dec 2015, while living in Oregon I was blessed with my beautiful son, then three weeks later, in January 2016, I was diagnosed with stage 2 Melanoma skin cancer. While still on maternity leave the mass was removed. With this diagnosis and not having family close. My husband and I decided to return to California. We were both blessed to find jobs, and were able to scrape by.
March 29, 2017, I was told by my oncologist that they found a mass in my lungs and I am now considered stage 4. The mass was removed in April 12, 2017. After surgery, my only course of action was a clinical trial, but I developed C. Diff. from stay in hospital for surgery, so trial was placed on hold
The clinical trial treatments final started in June and I have not done well on them. The last time I was able to go to work was on August 4th. I developed C Diff and ulcerative colitis. I have been either in the ER or hospitalized the majority of August.
Because of my severe reaction to the medication, I have been removed from the clinical trial and taken off work for three months. I am currently waiting to see my dermatologist to biopsy a spot my oncologist thinks is cancerous on my shoulder & a referral to a Melanoma specialist 2 hours away from meto see if there is any other treatments they can do or if it's just "watch and wait" again.
Thankfully (for now) the medical expenses have been covered by insurance, but my family and I are struggling severely with all other expenses as I have no paycheck coming in not since beginning of August and lost wages for my husband for the taking care of me of which, a large portion goes to paying for insurance.
With our truck being stolen shortly after my surgery in April and with me (or both Dino and me) being off work so much because of my cancer we have depleted our savings and are both out of PTO.
I am asking for help with making ends meet, such as funds for grocery money, gas to get to appointments, normal everyday bills that would not be an issue if I wasn't sick.
Creating this has has been very difficult for me, but my family's wellbeing has trumped my pride. I completely understand if helping is not an option, at minimum I'm asking please keep my family in your prayers through this difficult time for us.
