My name is Jennifer, and I’ve had the privilege of knowing Kim and Billy for over seven years. Kim and I first met through my job, and she quickly became one of my dearest friends. If you know Kim, you know her heart ,she is a caregiver in every sense of the word, not only by profession but also in the way she lives her life. She and Billy are the kind of people who would give their last dollar if it meant helping someone else.

Over the past few years, Kim has carried the heavy burden of loss, caring for her mother, father, and brother until their final days. Through it all, she’s shown incredible strength, compassion, and faith.

On September 1, 2025, the Hanleys’ world was turned upside down. What began as a simple slip in the kitchen turned into a life-altering tragedy. Billy suffered a devastating injury, shattering his C-3 and C-5 vertebrae, which left him immediately paralyzed from the neck down.

He underwent emergency surgery at Silver Cross Hospital and spent 12 days in the ICU, a total of 14 days in the hospital, before being transferred to Shirley Ryan in downtown Chicago to begin the long road of rehabilitation. While Billy faces an uphill battle, we all know that with Kim by his side, his strength and determination will shine through.

But the reality is this: the financial burden is overwhelming. Billy was the sole provider for their household, and medical bills are already beginning to pile up.

I am asking, on behalf of my dear friends, for your support.
