We adopted Kiley in 2019, and she's been our beloved family member for the past seven years. Everything changed when Kiley suddenly started losing weight and lost her appetite. We knew something wasn't right, so we rushed her to the emergency hospital.
Over the past several months, Kiley has been in and out of the hospital. She was diagnosed with kidney failure and now bladder stones.
Kiley is the sweetest little girl. When we first adopted her, she was very independent and reserved. Over the years, she slowly blossomed into an affectionate, outgoing cat who loves being around both people and other animals. She talks to everyone—sometimes even to herself. She loves jumping onto the table to watch us play board games, curling up beside us on the couch while we watch TV, sitting by the window to watch the birds, and quietly enjoying the scenery outside. Even though she's tiny, she has an incredibly strong spirit and a mind of her own.
Kiley is a warrior. She made it through emergency hospitalization and showed us how much she wanted to keep fighting. Every time when we visit her at the hospital, it was obvious that all she wanted was to come home. And she made it.
After she came home, we've been doing everything we could to help her recover. We've been feeding her prescription food and canned food, giving her prescribed pain medication, and following her veterinarian's recommendations. At first, we chose conservative treatment because Kiley became anxious and stressed whenever she was hospitalized. She would mew constantly, and she had also lost so much weight that surgery carried additional risks. At the time, it felt like the safest and best decision for her.
Unfortunately, despite our best efforts, the prescription diet has not improved her condition enough. Although Kiley has regained some of the weight she lost and her appetite has improved, her kidney problems still persist on and off; she still occasionally has blood in her urine. After discussing the next steps with her veterinarian, surgery is now the best option to relieve her bladder stones and give her the best chance at a comfortable life.
The biggest challenge now is the cost. The estimated cost for Kiley's surgery and hospitalization is approximately $6,000, and the hospital does not offer payment plans. After covering all of her previous emergency visits, hospital stays, IV fluids, diagnostics, medications, and follow-up care ourselves, we're struggling to afford this surgery.
We're reaching out for help in hopes of giving Kiley the chance she deserves. Every donation, no matter the amount, will go directly toward Kiley's surgery, hospitalization, medications, and recovery. If possible, please share Kiley's story with others would mean the world to us.
Thank you for taking the time to read Kiley's story. Your kindness, encouragement, and generosity give us hope that Kiley can get the treatment she needs and continue living the happy life she deserves. Thank you all.
