Kiaylah, affectionately known as Kiki, is a true delight and joy to everyone she meets. Her passion for baking and her dream of becoming a pastry chef have been a part of her life for as long as I can remember. She lights up every room, loves anime, and cherishes her friends. Even after being paralyzed and in a wheelchair since the age of two, following a car accident, Kiki has never let life’s challenges dim her spirit. Her resilience and joy are truly inspiring.
In August 2024, Kiki began her studies at Nicholls State University’s culinary school, a first-generation college student, excelling in her classes and embracing every opportunity. I have been supporting her education out of pocket, but due to recent personal and financial transitions, I am no longer able to keep up with the payments. We have exhausted all financial aid options and explored state programs, but unfortunately, they cannot cover her current balance because of enrollment timing. Now, Kiki faces the heartbreaking possibility of not being able to return to school after Christmas break unless her balance is paid by mid-January. Instead of returning to class and her dorm, she may have to pack up and leave behind what she loves most.
Clearing her current balance would allow Kiki to remain enrolled, keep her dorm, and return to class. It would also enable her to receive future support from a Louisiana State agency, making financial worries a thing of the past. At this point, assistance from the community will help keep Kiki at school and while it’s difficult to ask for help, I want to give Kiki every chance to continue pursuing her dreams. Any support you can offer means the world to us and will help Kiki stay on the path she loves.
