Kike and Tencia Chavez are facing an incredibly difficult time after their Milwaukee home was hit by severe flooding. Overnight, their street filled with water, flooding their basement and destroying their washer and dryer, a recently purchased couch, tables, chairs, and their workout equipment but most importantly, the furnace is not working, they have no ac, no heater, and no boiler. The loss of these essentials has left them struggling to get back on their feet, especially since their home was the most affected on the block.

Kike and Tencia, along with their two puppies, Rocky and Bella, are doing their best to cope with the aftermath. Both Kike and Tencia experience anxiety, and the stress of losing so much so quickly has been overwhelming. They have made a claim to their insurance, but have not yet heard back, and the uncertainty is adding to their stress as they worry the damage may not be covered. Today, they are working to remove all their damaged valuables and tear up the basement floor, knowing the entire basement will need to be refinished. They spent last night at my house for safety and comfort, but they’ll need ongoing support for food, supplies for their puppies, and help replacing what was lost.
