Dear friends, family, and compassionate supporters,

We’re reaching out on behalf of Kiersten and Austin—two of the kindest, most resilient people you could ever meet. Many of you know them as the heart behind the Edison Cafe and as generous members of the Bow/Edison community, always quick to lend a hand.

For over a decade, Kiersten has battled a mysterious and debilitating illness. In recent years, she has experienced a dramatic decline in her health. After years of misdiagnoses and setbacks, she was finally diagnosed with Cushing’s Syndrome—a rare condition caused by a tumor on her adrenal gland that is flooding her body with high levels of cortisol. These dangerously high cortisol levels are threatening her
life, wreaking havoc on her body and mind, and drastically impacting her quality of life.

Despite these immense challenges, Kiersten has continued running the cafe while simultaneously pursuing her degree in accounting. Her incredible perseverance has earned her statewide academic honors
and scholarships. Now, this hard-earned progress is at risk.

There is hope—a specialized surgery, available at only two clinics in the U.S., offers a potential path to recovery. Kiersten has been accepted for treatment at one of those clinics in Tampa, Florida, but the costs of travel, surgery, and recovery are substantial and uncovered by her insurance. She will also need time away from work, which puts additional strain on the income they need to live and their small business.

Kiersten will be receiving the following surgery at Carling Adrenal Center in Tampa, Florida;

The best adrenal operation for over 95% of patients with adrenal tumors is the Mini Back Scope Adrenalectomy (MBSA), also called the "Mini Posterior Retroperitoneoscopic Adrenal Operation". In this minimally invasive operation, the surgeon will use a very small scope and fine instruments to dissect and remove the adrenal tumor through small incisions in the back.

Kiersten and Austin have given so much to their community. Now, they need our help.

We’re raising funds to cover medical expenses, travel, and lost income during Kiersten’s recovery.

Every donation—no matter the size—brings them one step closer to healing. Please consider donating, sharing their story, and keeping them in your thoughts. With your support, we can help Kiersten get the care she needs and the future she deserves.

With heartfelt thanks,

Austin and Kiersten's family and friends
