Help Kiernan Access Gender Affirming Care

Sometimes the unexpected catches us by surprise. Completely out of the blue, I was recently approved for Top Surgery with a surgery date much closer than I had ever anticipated. If you’ve been following the news or know anything about gender affirming care, you know there’s a significant risk of loosing access to it. Especially for people on federal health care plans. People like me. If I do not get surgery before my benefit year changes I may never be able to afford or access it if laws continue to shift and change. Due to the very nearby time frame and the inability to budget for this expense currently(initially we believed we were still approximately 1.5 years away from surgery due to a variety of restrictions for people who live in bigger bodies), I am asking for any support anyone may be able to offer to help us get to Anchorage. We will have to stay there for a week for post op care as I can not receive any of this care in Juneau and my insurance does not cover any travel expenses for gender affirming care. This will put an immense strain on us as we will have to fund housing, food, travel, medical, and ultimately pet care for our pack of beasts.
