My name is Kiedren Murry, and on December 6th, my life changed in an instant. I was in a terrible accident that left me hospitalized from that day until January 4th. During this time, my wife had to take off from her job to care for our five children and travel back and forth to Chapel Hill Hospital to be by my side. She hasn’t been able to work, and neither have I, since the day of my accident. As a car salesman, I didn’t have short-term disability, and my wife’s FMLA only covers her own injuries, so we’ve had no income coming in for weeks.
We’ve done everything we can to keep the lights and water on for our kids, but the mortgage and other bills have been piling up, and it’s become overwhelming. My injuries were severe—I broke seven ribs, dislocated my shoulder, broke my scapula, ruptured my right lung, broke my right foot, and needed 79 stitches in my face. The road to recovery is long, but I am grateful to be alive and surrounded by my family. God has been tremendously good to me, but we have fallen so far behind that it’s scary, and I don’t know what else to do.
I am reaching out to ask for help for my family and me during this desperate time. Any support you can offer will go directly toward keeping a roof over our heads, paying our bills, and making sure our children have what they need while I recover. From our hearts to yours, please help us if you can. May God bless you, and thank you for reading our story.
