Be Their Hero!
Our Mission: In partnership with Latino Connection, the Be Their Hero Initiative works collaboratively through community partnerships and donations to provide essential educational resources to students in the Dominican Republic’s capital city, Santo Domingo, where schools lack access to basic tools and supplies.
What do you remember about your first day of school as a child? For many, it was the excitement of a new backpack filled with colorful school supplies above and beyond what was needed. The unfortunate reality for children in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, is that they don’t get to experience this same joy on the first day of school, or any day of school because of a severe lack of access to even the most basic educational supplies.
Imagine a classroom with students, hungry to learn, but no backpacks fill the lockers. There are no crayons or papers to bring beautiful ideas to life, and no glue or scissors to allow inspiration flow into reality. Without access to basic school supplies, the children in the Dominican Republic begin life at a major disadvantage without the foundation for education and creativity.
But you can change that….you can Be Their Hero!
Every dollar donated to Latino Connection’s Be Their Hero initiative will directly result in fulfilling the most essential classroom needs for Santo Domingo students. New backpacks will be “packed with power” to include every school supply needed to provide students with a bright future – one filled with opportunities and possibilities.
Through your financial contribution, or donation of physical items, Latino Connection will facilitate the stuffing and delivering of the Packs of Power to the fringe of the Dominican Republic’s capital city, Santo Domingo, right in time for the start of their 2021-2022 school year!
Our Goal: Latino Connection’s goal is to fund 500 Packs of Power! Each backpack will be filled with $50 worth of school supplies, which is why we aim to raise $25,000 by June 15th, 2021!
Every dollar makes a difference! $50 fills 1 backpack, but any contribution will help us move closer to our goal and will have a significant impact on the lives of Dominican students. Make your donation by clicking "Donate Now" on this page.
