The recent floods that hit central Vietnam have deeply impacted our community. More than 90 lives were lost, many houses were left completely underwater, and hundreds of families lost their homes and belongings. In just a short time, everything they worked for was gone. Among those affected are children who, overnight, lost not only their homes but also the simple things they need to go to school and feel safe.
I grew up in Cam Ranh, Vietnam and went to school there for over six years. Even during normal times, getting by was not easy. I still remember how much every notebook, uniform, and backpack meant to us. Now, after this disaster, these children are facing challenges far greater than anything I experienced, trying to continue their education without even the most basic supplies.
After immigrating to the U.S., I’ve been incredibly grateful for the access and opportunities education has given me. It’s something I no longer take for granted. Education gives children hope, stability, and a chance at a better future, and that’s what all kids deserve. I’m reaching out to my close family and friends to ask for your support in helping these children get back to school. Donations will go toward backpacks, notebooks, uniforms, essential school supplies, and school payments. Even a small contribution can make a meaningful difference. I truly believe that kindness always finds its way back. Thank you for taking the time to read this, and for any support you’re able to give. Together, we can help these children rebuild, heal, and keep moving forward.
My venmo is nhi_bui if that’s easier! I’ll also put in $500 myself.
