Mammy records is an independent record label based in Amsterdam, run by two women who envision a music industry where diversity starts bottom up and follows through into the scene. We believe our artists' authenticity is the building blocks for creating their three-dimensional sound, that won't be compromised by committee. We intend to break the glass ceiling one hit at a time and that sounds like music to our ears!
Mammy Records is set up by Megan de Kruijf and Gaya Nahum.
We set ourselves apart from other record labels by giving our artists the tools to be able to create a world around their music. The music and the story that they choose to tell through their songs will be accompanied by a visual and interactive experience.
Our first release will be by our one and only Megan de Kruijf. Her debut EP is currently in preproduction, and we are working towards a release date of the 1st of July for the first single. The full EP will be released by the end of the summer.
For the past year we have been working on fine-tuning the music, the art work and everything that goes hand in hand with kick-starting a music career.
With the pandemic we have been challenged to think creatively in funding our vision and kicking off this promising music career, and we need your help to make this a reality!
This includes the high quality production of music videos, live streams, interactive art work, merchandise etc. All of this includes a team of a director, camera operator, photographers, stylist and of course music producers, mixers, engineers and many more people who may be involved in this process who must get paid for their time and effort.
What we will do financially:
The money that has been spent so far has been on creating a website, designing a logo and registering our business and has come to a sum of €103. The rest of the money that is needed for the release will be for:
- 4 music videos
- Visuals for each song
- Mixing, master and engineering for 4 tracks
- Renting a studio
- Printing and distribution
- Several (corona safe) gigs
A little about Gaya :
I’m currently rounding up my second year of music management at the HKU. For these past years I have been dipping my toes into the music industry. Megan and I became friends over our shared love for music and inevitably our next step should be our own music career. By studying great examples like Dirty Hit records I want to create a work place for artist in which I can support their creative processes. By staying critical and always following my own moral compass, I am certain we will be able to help artists kick-start their careers.
A little about Megan:
Music has always played a huge role in my life. Starting off by playing covers on my guitar, in a band and eventually starting to write my own music. In combination with the performance art course which I have been busy with the past two years I am getting closer to becoming the artists that I want to be. Together with Mammy records I hope to realize my gutsy and glittery indie pop music with lyrics that are razor sharp commentary on the existential crisis that inevitably goes hand in hand with coming of age.
What do we need exactly?
For this we are asking for €5000 to cover these costs. This will be enough money to cover these costs and to allow us as a label to break even.
Of course your generosity will not go unnoticed, and each donation will receive a personalized thank you from us.
