Help Kick Katrina's Cancer
Donation protected
Hi, I am Valerie, and I am writing this on behalf of my little sister Katrina. She would never do this for herself because she is still in the stage where she can handle it herself. But as her big sister, I know that some things are not meant to do alone.
Earlier this year, Katrina was experiencing some blurred vision, was down 75 pounds, and grew four inches. All this was pretty odd for a 35-year-old. After meeting with her doctor and several tests she was Diagnosed with Astrocytoma in her left parietal lobe touching her cerebral cortex. (Brain Cancer). She met with multiple teams of doctors from Georgetown, Hopkins, and finally Anderson Cancer center in Texas.
Katrina Went for her initial meeting at Anderson in March 2022. At that time, they determined they would wait to see in there would be any changes, with the possibility of an approximate 6-hour sedated surgery. Fast forward to May 5th, 2022. She received a call from Anderson saying after further review they really want to get her in and scheduled for her surgery. This is now an approximate 12-hour surgery that will be done with her awake. This will cost $418,000 fortunately insurance will cover 80%. But what is not covered is the travel expenses and lost wages. Not only will she be out of work for approximately one year but her Husband, Justin will be her main caregiver and he will also be out of work for a little while during the surgery and after to take care of Katrina.
Her surgery is now scheduled for July 21, 2022. I want to get as much stress off of them as possible, so any little bit helps. please consider donating to their family. With two teenage sons at home this is taking a toll on everyone.
