Since 1979, Integrity Martial Arts Academy has been servicing the Greater Kansas City community with quality martial arts training and character-building curriculums. Our founder, Rudolph Muhammad, developed this academy with the intention of giving back to the community that poured into his development. What started as a free program in the basement of a community center has evolved into a 5800 sq ft space in the Red Bridge Shopping Center. What used to provide classes to roughly 50 students on 63rd and Troost now services nearly 150 students from every direction of our city. What was once a one-person operation now functions with a staff of a dozen, a manager, and a small business management team. To say we have grown would be an understatement!
As we move towards our next 45 years, we strive to expand our impact and increase our professionalism. We recognize that, as we grow, we cannot remain complacent with the strategies that have worked in the past. The market for martial arts schools is more competitive, and the costs of running a business continue to rise. Our goal is to offer a state-of-the-art facility that matches the high-level training we offer on the mats. With your assistance, we plan to make the following improvements:
- Remodel the parent and lobby sitting areas ($5000)
- Build a 2nd bathroom ($3500)
- Build a parent and student Wi-Fi workspace ($5000)
- Paint the front interior wall ($2500)
- Purchase new training equipment: 5 standing bags, hanging bag racks, and wall pads ($6000)
- Staffing: 2-3 new teaching staff, hire co-manager, provide raises for current staff ($10,000)
- Develop a scholarship fund for families with financial hardships ($5000)
All of this adds up to roughly $37,000! We will break this down into phases, with our focus being on the front lobby area first.
And yes, while we recognize that this goal is ambitious, we are confident that the product we offer validates our ambition. For 45 years, we have maintained a community-first business model. And, while we have had our share of growing pains, we have seen our program maintain an upward trajectory.
We ask that you consider supporting our program and ensure you that every penny we raise goes towards the development of our program.
