Kicio is a 12 year old, long haired sweet cat that my neighbor has been feeding for years. He ran into her yard, where she removed the string tied around his tail and Kicio has been living on the property ever since.

Kicio gets wet food twice a day, is brushed regularly & shares a climate controlled space with two other kitties. Unfortunately, as an elderly person on a fixed income, my neighbor isn’t in a position to provide them with some very needed medical care.

One day last year, I noticed Kicio wasn’t his usual self. Upon closer inspection, I realized he had a hematoma on his ear– caused from shaking his head, trying to relieve the discomfort of what I assumed to be some very bad ear infections.

My neighbor told me she wouldn’t be able to afford his medical bill, but I couldn’t leave him to suffer and got Kicio to an urgent care vet right away.

The incredible team took amazing care of him and sent us home with an ear flush, eye drops, two weeks of antibiotics and preventative medications (Revolution!) I paid for his bills out of pocket, and my neighbor was able to give me some of the money to help.

Unfortunately, she is on a fixed income and sadly told me she wouldn’t be able to help again.

Now, Kicio is in need of urgent dental care. While at the vet, they mentioned his teeth were so bad, he would need pain medication to manage until he could get dental care.

Initial visits and costs for dental care average upwards of $2000 dollars, but Kicio deserves to spend his golden years living pain free.

My goal is to have a dental appointment for him by the end of February 2026.
