My name is Kiara, and reaching out like this is something I never imagined myself doing. I’ve always been the type of person who handles things on my own working hard, staying responsible, and doing whatever it takes to keep my life steady. I recently moved into a new apartment, a place I was genuinely proud to call home. It represented a fresh start, something I earned through long hours, careful budgeting, and a lot of determination.
I’ve been doing everything I can to build a stable life for myself and my 12‑year‑old dog, who has been by my side through every high and low. I’m used to pushing through challenges, tightening my budget, and making things work even when it’s difficult. Asking for help has never been part of who I am.
But on the morning of May 12th, everything I had been working so hard to maintain was suddenly shaken. At 5 a.m., as I was getting ready to start my day, I saw multiple notifications from my bank. Overnight, several unauthorized charges had hit my account. By the time I opened the messages, my entire balance had been drained, and I was left more than $300 in the negative.
In one night, months of careful planning and saving were wiped out.
I immediately contacted my bank, but the process to investigate and reverse fraudulent charges takes time. Meanwhile, life doesn’t pause rent is still due, bills still come, and my dog still needs food and care. I’m doing everything I can to stay on my feet, but this setback hit at a moment when I simply don’t have a cushion to fall back on.
I’m not asking for help because I want an easy way out. I’m asking because I’ve exhausted every option I have, and I refuse to let this situation take away the stability I’ve worked so hard to build. Any support whether it’s a donation, sharing my story, or even a kind message would help me get through this unexpected hardship and back to standing on my own two feet.
Thank you for taking the time to read my story, and for helping someone who is doing everything they can to keep moving forward.
