Kiara Jones recently gave birth at Dallas Regional Medical Center in Mesquite Texas while being subjected to trauma commonly faced by women. It is most unfortunate that the numbers affect women of color in frequency and severity more. Kiara is now in that number. Sharing her story was meant to protect voices that were silenced in that moment: hers, mine (her mother) and most importantly her unborn child. The voices released as a result has been overwhelming. And the outpouring of concern, and desire to help, humbling. In light of this, I am establishing this account to insure that whatever gifts given can get to Kiara and her children as she recuperates from childbirth. And from the tragic treatment of the hospital staff while doing so. The reality is that we’re facing giants while the “regular stuff” like, food, clothes, shoes, living space, formula, diapers, gas, doctors visits, etc. are still required. Please know that we are not ‘soliciting anything’ other than prayers from anyone. However, so many have offered to send gifts to help Kiara and this account will be the only one receiving monetary gifts to do so. Her Amazon wish list was completed so swiftly she could only stare at the screen as the magnitude of what happened reached people who “cared”.
