Hi, my name is Alexis, and I’m asking for help for my dog, Kiara.

Kiara is my 3-year-old chihuahua/dachshund mix, and she's my favorite person. (I said what I said.) She’s been by my side through everything. She’s my comfort, my routine, and such a big part of my life.

What I thought was an upset stomach has turned into something much more serious. When I first took her to the vet, they recommended fluids, medication to help with her digestive system, in addition to bloodwork and X-rays. The cost for these tests was quoted at over $1,000.

Unfortunately, I couldn't afford the additional bloodwork and X-rays. With help from a friend, I was only able to get Kiara a basic visit, fluids, and medication. Kiara appeared to be in recovery, slowly, but surely.

However, in the past 24 hours, Kiara has now had two episodes where she becomes shaky and then suddenly collapses: her body flails, almost like she’s going into shock or having a seizure. These episodes last less than a minute, but they are terrifying to witness. Afterward, she’s disoriented, panting heavily, and drooling.

I'm turning to my community, family, and friends to ask for help. I’ve applied for CareCredit and financial assistance programs, but I was denied, and the resources I’ve found don’t cover the diagnostics she needs.
