Hi there, my name is Kiara Melendez, and I am raising money for a study abroad program in Barcelona, Spain, through Portland State University. This program will be focused on climate change and environmental sustainability. We will partner with Plastic Oceans International (POI) and Creative Emerging Technology Institute (CETI) to create augmented reality postcards addressing the issues of climate change. With these postcards, we will engage in the powerful practice of civic engagement while advocating for the environment by sending these postcards to political figures at the local, state, and national levels. As we explore and experience the culture, people, traditions, and landscapes of the Catalonia region, we will analyze our own identities (international, national, civic, and personal) and take note of the sustainable practices being done throughout Catalonia that we can bring back to the United States.

The funds I am trying to raise will help me cover the flights and costs of the program, which include lodging, transportation, course fees from the university, and activities with local businesses. Anything you can spare would be a huge help. Thank you!
