No parent ever imagines they will outlive their child.

But this is the reality our family is facing.

Our precious girl, Kiah, has been fighting for 12 incredible years. She has lived her whole life with complex medical needs, enduring more hospital visits, procedures, and challenges than most people face in a lifetime. Despite everything her little body battles every single day, she continues to shine in the most extraordinary way.

Kiah is now in palliative care.

As time begins to look different for us, our focus has shifted from treatments and appointments to something just as important — making memories. Beautiful, joy-filled, meaningful memories with the people who love her most.

Kiah struggles daily with her health. Her body is tired. Simple things take enormous effort. She relies on medical equipment, is PEG fed, and uses her wheelchair to explore the world. There are days that are heavy and hard. But even on those days, she finds a way to give us her smile — and when Kiah smiles, it lights up the entire room.

She loves all things girly. Pink, sparkles, rainbows, feeling included and celebrated. She adores music (especially Harry Styles and taylor swift), giggling with her cousins, being surrounded by family, and soaking up every bit of love . She hates early mornings, loves a giggle and hoot, and has the most cheeky, beautiful spirit.

More than anything, she wants to experience life.

She has dreams. Adventures she wants to go on. Special outings. Moments where she isn’t “the sick child” — just Kiah. A little girl living her best life.

We want to give her that.

As her mum, my heart is broken in ways I cannot describe. But through that heartbreak is one fierce, unwavering wish: that my girl experiences the very best this world has to offer while she can.

Time is precious. And right now, time feels incredibly fragile.
