Hi there, my name is Amy, and I’m reaching out for help after my 2022 Kia Sportage was severely damaged, again, in the sixth attempt to steal it. The most recent break-in left my back window shattered, the steering wheel mangled, and none of the power features—locks, windows, or key fob—working. In the midst of all the attempts & damage to my car, I've discovered there were additional options when I took the car in for the software update. I began to research the Kia lawsuits when I found there was an additional class action lawsuit due to steering wheel column defaults I was not made aware of when it was taken in for recall/3rd repair. Because of the snowballing debt these attempts have created I have no choice but to resort to litigation. And therefor have had to increase my donation goal. I rely on my car every day for my work providing home health physical therapy treatments, which is my only source of income. The last time I had to repair my car, it completely drained my savings, and now I’m struggling to cover even basic needs like food and my car payment. I recently started a new job, but the timing of this setback has made things even more difficult. I am my mother's main caregiver & recently moved in with her to help her financially & physically. With every attempt having occurred in the same place, it has severely impacted my ability to care for my mother while also dealing with my own health issues. Multiple procedures & 1 surgery as well as many doctor appointments I've had to cancel because of becoming a victim of what ultimately was one video uploaded years ago creating a lawless group of people targeting Kias. My mother has regular doctor appointments to monitor a head injury from a car accident & I also have a sister who is disabled that also requires my care & attention.

I am also the primary live-in caregiver for my 80-year-old mother, who cannot use her right arm and needs help with all her daily activities. She has multiple doctor appointments every week, and her pain and health issues make reliable transportation absolutely essential. Next week, she has several important appointments that I cannot miss. On top of this, my own health has declined—I need gallbladder and bile duct surgery, but I’ve had to put it off while I try to recover financially. I’ve lost 15 pounds trying to make ends meet, and the stress of this situation is overwhelming. I’ve arranged with my bank to delay my car payment for 30 days, but I need help to get my car repaired and keep up with my responsibilities & caring for my ailing mother.

I plan to provide updates with documentation as funds are available to use to reassure those able to help us.

Any support will go directly toward repairing my car which is estimated to be $3400-$3600 plus a past due car payment my bank loan graciously approved based on maintaining perfect payment history. Funds donated will also go to covering urgent bills including a storage unit used for my mother's items/keepsakes, & my own surgery I've had to push forward due to this incident & employment gap from ongoing health issues impacting care I need to provide to those I care for on a regular basis & most importantly, my precious, wonderful, amazing mother.
